Assisting, Collaborating, and Training ESL Secondary Content Teachers

 

ACT-ESL: Eligibility

Are you eligible for the ACT-ESL project?

  1. You are an endorsed teacher (6-12 grades) in math, science, social studies, or English/language arts.
  2. You teach in the Chesterfield County Public Schools.
  3. You will be teaching a credit-bearing course in your endorsed area with (an) ELL student (s).
  4. You are interested in helping your English language learners.
  5. You are available for the summer Institute, follow-up classroom applications, and a post-seminar.

Special note. Once you decide to participate in the one-week summer training, you also agree to respond to three classroom observations in the following year (two in the fall and one in the spring) and to attend a post-training seminar.

Incentives

  1. Stipend for summer Institute (30 hrs.) and a post-seminar (4 hrs.): $24 per hour
  2. Option to transfer summer training hours to a graduate course (TEDU 500: ESL Method in Secondary Content Area) at VCU the following summer
